CONCEPT
Inspired by the simplicity and craftsmanship of rural Chinese culture, this barber shop translates traditional Chinese elements into a contemporary interior experience.
The concept explores the relationship between nature, craftsmanship, and cultural symbolism, taking inspiration from the visual language of the Chinese countryside and the traditional techniques found within it.

The result is a space where Chinese cultural identity is not directly replicated, but reinterpreted through form, material, craftsmanship, and atmosphere.
Plan
Axonometry
The Hat
The starting point is the Chinese farmer's hat. We analyzed how it is woven and how its timber ribs are joined, then translated that logic into the project's defining element: a pleated ceiling that folds down over the reception and lounge like an enlarged hat, with its structure and burgundy trim left visible.
The Rock and the Pine
A rough scholar's rock anchors the table, bringing the weight of the landscape indoors, while the pine, a symbol of resilience and longevity, grows from the reception wall and ties the entrance to nature.
The Dragon.
A dragon, a symbol of strength, protection and good fortune in Chinese culture, is woven into the ceiling fabric, revealed slowly rather than announced. A sculpted dragon rests on the stone grooming table, guarding the space.
The Mirrors
The mirrors hang from above like Chinese scrolls, each held by its own frame and burgundy posts, turning every grooming station into a framed moment.
The palette of polished concrete, stone, pale walls and deep burgundy lets materials carry the story. Tradition here is not decoration but method.
